A COMMUNITY programme aimed at improving awareness of dementia will be launched in Rawtenstall next month.
Working towards a ‘Dementia Friendly Rossendale’ will be held at Alder Grange School on Thursday, July 3, from 5.30pm.
Dr Di van Ruitenbeek, chair of East Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Whilst the condition has reached heightened concern because of its degenerative and irreversible diagnosis, we believe it is possible to live well with dementia, particularly in the early stages.
“We want to positively influence attitudes and behaviour towards a condition which wrongly attracts stigma, encouraging tolerance, thoughtfulness and practical help instead.”
