A FUNDRAISING event in aid of armed forced personnel putting their lives on the line across the world will be held in Worcester on Monday.

The event jointly organised by Worcestershire County Council and training company Quanta will be held at the company’s headquarters in The Moors, Worcester, from 4.30pm on June 30.

Representatives of the Territorial Army and Quanta will be on hand donating a brand new flag for the Barbourne Ex-Services Social Club and all proceeds from the event – which will include games and a cake sale – will go to a UK armed forces charity to be picked at random on the day.

Alan Smith, who works with both the county council and Quanta, said he hoped the event would be a success.

“Quanta know the importance of spreading the word and doing their bit to help those during and after their time in the forces," he said.

"We hope that the event on Monday will be a huge success and we are able to raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile of causes."

In support of Saturday’s national Armed Forces Day the county council has arranged an evening concert at the Guildhall.

Tickets are available from the Tourist Information Centre in High Street, Worcester.
