Take care on the roads, motorists advised
5:24pm Friday 27th June 2014 in News
WITH heavy rain forecast throughout the weekend, motorists are being advised to take extra care on the roads.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain for most of England and Wales, which could be set to continue until Monday.
As a result Worcestershire County Council is asking drivers to be especially careful on the roads.
The county council’s cabinet member with responsibility for highways Cllr John Smith said: "We would urge motorists to take care over the next few days and to be aware of the changing weather patterns.
“Worcestershire County Council will work to ensure that disruption to both residents and motorists is kept to a minimum.
“We would ask residents to prepare for the intermittent weather as appropriately as possible.”
The council has issued a range of advice including to drive slowly and steadily through large puddles and standing water, allowing oncoming traffic to pass and to always test brakes after leaving the water.
Drivers are advised never to drive through a flooded section of road as it is often impossible to tell how deep it is.
Headlights must be used at all time as rain can affect disability.
