YOUNG dancers from Worcester will start Big Dance Week with a performance at Artrix in Bromsgrove on Saturday (July 5).

Over 80 dancers performing all styles of dance including contemporary and street dance will take part in Accelerate as part of Big Dance Week, a week of dance performances and events throughout the UK.

Clare Wood, youth dance coordinator for Dancefest, based at Angel Place, Worcester, has produced the performance.

She said: “This is a brilliant platform for young dancers to see what they can work towards and what they can achieve.

"It’s going to be a great evening and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s performances.

"I’m especially looking forward to seeing Shelley Haden and Rob Ferguson, who are returning from training at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and Trinity Laban which are both incredibly well respected dance colleges.

"Shelley and Rob danced with Dancefest from when they were very young, and progressed all the way through our classes and youth dance companies.

"I’m really looking forward to seeing them again.”

W'ire and Urban Boys from Worcester will be taking part alongside W’inc inclusive dance company from Bromsgrove, Flexus and Fidget from Wolverhampton, Elevate and 2 Faced Youth from Hereford as well as solo performances by young dancers and choreographers.

The performance takes place at 7.30pm with tickets, costing £7 (£5 concessions), £20 for a family ticket, available from Artrix at www.artrix.co.uk and 01527 577330.
