THERE were celebrations at Saint George's Church in Barbourne at the licensing of Rev Jo Musson.

Parishoners gathered to watch the service along with Bishop of Dudley, Rt Revd Graham Usher, and the outgoing Archdeacon of Worcester Roger Morris, who is set to become Bishop of Colchester.

Rev Musson became vicar of St John Baptist Church, Claines last year but could only be licensed as curate in charge as St George's Church as it was part of the Worcester City Parish with All Saints and Old St Martins.

The group was dismantled on Wednesday, June 18 making Saint George's a parish in its own right and Rev Musson was duly licensed as priest in charge to both Claines and Saint George's.

She said: "It was a beautiful service with representatives from both churches as well as from St George's School, Claines British Legion, the Cathedral, and Worcester URC.

"I am loving being vicar of Claines and Saint George's, they are fabulous churches, both incredibly welcoming, and both with some wonderfully committed and dedicated people.

"By working together and with our joint parish office and ministry team, we are finding we can offer a whole menu of different worship and that we are more able to serve our communities with a new Quest Bereavement Group, a team making sandwiches for Maggs, and a new baby and toddler group starting in September.

"We are also looking forward to having a stall at the Worcester Show on Sunday, August 17 with other local churches.
