VULNERABLE people run the risk of being without a bed to sleep on as stocks run low at Second Chance Furnishings.

The not-for-profit social enterprise has put out an urgent appeal for beds as it is experiencing an unprecedented increase in demand from people in Worcestershire.

It has a very limited stock of beds and mattresses and is asking the public to donate their unwanted furniture.

At the moment, there are six orders which can be fulfilled and another ten orders, many from families, still waiting for between two to three beds each.

A spokesman for Second Chance Furnishings said: “We are seeing great demand for our service to vulnerable people so much so that we have very limited stock left.

"Without donations from the public there is a real risk that vulnerable people will be sleeping on the floor”

Second Chance Furnishings has a warehouse in Vincent Road, Worcester, where it sells good quality secondhand furniture.

It also supplies furniture and white goods to homeless people being resettled into their own accommodation in conjunction with homeless charity St Paul's Hostel as well as vulnerable people, such as victims of domestic violence, through referrals from Worcester City Council.

The spokesperson said: “We would ask anyone that can help, especially if they have beds and mattresses, to contact us urgently."

Anyone wishing to donate can call 01905 360785 or email info@secondchancefurnishings.co.uk.
