ONE of the world's greatest concert organists is kicking off an International Concert Series at a church in Worcester.
In the first of three evening concerts at St Martin’s Church, London Road, Australian star Thomas Heywood is returning for another of his popular concerts of great orchestral classics on Saturday, July 19.
Shirley Scott, Administrator of Music at St Martin’s, said: “Our church is a comfortable and popular venue for concerts with a lovely acoustic and a splendid organ.
"We’re fortunate to be able to present concerts by three world-class musicians this year and we’re offering a series discount for music-lovers who would like to attend two or all three of the concerts.
“The magnificent organ virtuoso Thomas Heywood is well-known to our regular concert-goers who always look forward to his visits.
"He brings with him a sophisticated video system which allows you to watch those fantastic fingers and feet, as well as his two highly acclaimed Worcestershire CDs, which are sold all over the world."
The next concert in the series is on September 20 and features a recital from organist Andrew Millington who began his musical life in Worcestershire and is now Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral.
British lutenist David Miller, who first appeared in St Martin’s during the Three Choirs Festival Fringe in 2005, will round off the series on October 18.
All concerts start at 7.30pm and doors open at 6.45pm. Tickets are £10 for adults and the series discount offers £1 off for two concerts or £3 off for all three.
