A NEW charity shop raising cash for a Worcester hospice will open its doors next week.
The new St Richard’s Hospice shop at the former Lakeland store in St Swithin’s Street will officially open on Saturday, July 26.
The two-floor shop will replace the current temporary store in The Cross and the Snowdrops bookshop in Reindeer Court and will also contain a cafe.
The bridal centre currently based in The Cross will relocate to the second floor of the charity’s Mealcheapen Street store.
The charity’s commercial director Danny Corns said running a cafe was new venture for St Richard’s.
“Including a café within the store is something that is quite new for the charity sector, but at St Richard’s we are keen to learn lessons from the wider retail sector and have decided to make this investment,” he said.
“We have developed a very successful chain of shops across the county and are lucky to benefit from the dedication of our volunteers and the local community who generously support the hospice.”
The charity runs 18 shops across Worcestershire, which last year made a turnover of £2.2 million.
