A CARER from Bredon is set to enjoy a special 1930s-themed train journey in memory of his wife and daughter while supporting the charity which cared for them in their final days.
As part of its 30th anniversary celebrations Worcester-based St Richard’s Hospice have chartered a trip on the Northern Belle train from Shrub Hill to Bath on Saturday, September 20.
Bryan Leather and five of his friends have already bought their tickets and are looking forward to the journey in memory of his daughter Sarah, who died in 2011, and wife Cynthia, who died the next year.
Mr Leather said he had a number of wonderful memories of travelling on the Northern Belle with his wife and daughter.
“This will be the first time I have taken the trip without either of them, but I will travel with friends that have helped me so much,” he said.
“Our journey will be tinged with sadness, but we will remember how much we all enjoyed previous trips.
“As a family, we really appreciated the support we had from St Richard’s Hospice’s nurses during such difficult times, and I am delighted to have this opportunity to celebrate their special anniversary with them.”
St Richard’s Hospice provides palliative care for more than 2,500 patients and members of their family in Worcestershire
