THE head of West Mercia Police has welcomed the introduction of a new ethics code governing the behaviour of police officers.
The College of Policing’s new code of ethics was presented to parliament on Tuesday, July 15 and has been officially adopted by West Mercia Police.
The code makes clear the standards of behaviour expected from police officers and staff and supports them in making ethical decisions in their day-to-day working.
West Mercia Police Chief Constable David Shaw welcomed the introduction of the new code, saying: “We know that the vast majority of our officers and staff already perform their jobs with a great deal of integrity.
“However, the Code of Ethics gives us a professional framework for the first time and will help deliver the sort of service the public expect and which we are proud to deliver, every time.”
