FIREFIGHTERS were called to a park in Droitwich after a large hole mysteriously appeared.
Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called at 2.15pm today (Saturday) to Vines Park, Saltway Road, after a couple of residents alerted them to the one sqm hole which appeared on the canalside bank.
They made the area safe and handed it over to Wychavon District Council's highways team.
It is not yet known what caused the hole to appear and there have been no reported injuries.
Watch Commander Chris Jelfs, of Droitwich Fire Station, said: "A young lad had walked across the park and put his foot in it.
"We made an initial assessment of the area and cordoned it off and requested representatives from the local authority. They are arranging barriers to be put in place."
