A WORCESTER man has told a court he was so drunk he could not remember stealing £23.08 worth of Kenco coffee from Tesco in Foregate Street, Worcester.

Peter Hodgetts, of Field House Gardens, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to the theft, which took place on Saturday, April 26.

The court was told the 36-year-old could not remember stealing the coffee from the rear of the store .

He was handed a conditional discharge as he is already serving a community order for a previous offence.

Hodgetts was ordered to pay £22.08 compensation to Tesco.

He will also pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
