AN ORGANISATION working with offenders has pledged to ensure all staff are fully trained to help those with learning difficulties.

Head of service for the Warwickshire and West Mercia Community Rehabilitation Company Susannah Stennett joined members of the Worcestershire People’s Parliament last week where she signed a commitment to ensure all offenders with learning difficulties got the appropriate help.

Ms Stennett said: “We work directly with offenders to tackle the causes of their offending behaviour and help them to stop re-offending.

“Many of our clients have learning disabilities or difficulties so we welcome this opportunity to improve the way we identify their needs.”

The Worcestershire People’s Parliament is a group working to raise awareness of issues faced by people in the county with learning difficulties.

Vice chairman Sally Lapsley said: “We are really pleased that so many of the people who made promises are actually doing something about them.”

Anyone interested in joining the parliament can call 01905 774 247 before Thursday, July 31.
