A WORCESTER man has been celebrating after graduating as a Warfare Specialist from HMS Collingwood in Hampshire.

Able Seaman Jordan Matteson, of Worcester, recently graduated as the specialist after completing his Phase 2 training with Victory Squadron.

The 20-year-old joined the Royal Navy in October last year for the opportunity to experience as much of the world as possible.

At HMS Collingwood he undertook the Warfare Specialist Training Course to learn how to set up and operate the Royal Navy’s systems that provide information to ships on air and surface activities.

And whilst he was on course AB Matteson represented the Navy at the D-Day commemoration events.

He will now join HMS Richmond to exercise his skills in a practical setting.

Originally from Worcester, where his mum, Julie and dad, Dave, who served in the Army, still live, the basketball enthusiast said he was glad he joined up and is now looking forward to his time on HMS Richmond.

"I am enjoying every moment of my time here," he said. "I’m looking forward to finally joining the fleet and doing the job that I joined the Navy for."
