NO CHARGES have yet been made following a crash in Worcester on Friday morning in which a 48-year-old father and grandfather was killed.

Chris Willmott died after he was hit by a car near Ford Bristol Street Motors in Cotswold Way just after 1.10am on August 1.

The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

This morning a police spokesman said the 34-year-old was still in custody and helping officers with their inquiries, but no charges had yet been made following the crash.

The car travelling along Cotswold Way collided with Mr Willmott before crossing into Blackpole Road and impacting a lamppost, causing damage to a vehicle in the dealership.

Mr Willmott, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was with a group of people at the time of the accident, with at least one person in that group believed to be a child.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call PC 3036 Ashley or Sgt 1914 Allen at Bromsgrove Operational Policing Unit on 101, quoting incident number 39 of August 1.
