WITH the school summer holidays in full swing, children throughout Worcester are enjoying a packed programme of activities run by a charity based in the city.

Hundreds of youngsters have been taking part in the Kidz Play 2014 summer programme run by Worcester Community Trust and have enjoyed a wide range of fun activities including a VIP limo ride to Vue cinema in Friar Street for a special screening of The Lego Movie on Friday, August 1.

The children have also made their own films, CDs, and scarecrows and participated in a number of other art and drama activities.

The trust aims to provide services and activities to children, young people and families across Worcester with a specific focus on areas of need.

The trust’s play co-ordinator said: “Having fun is what Kidz Play is all about but it’s also about building up the children’s confidence and self-esteem through play.

“We want to give them opportunities that they wouldn’t usually get that will make this summer one to remember”

The project has won approval from children taking part, with eight-year-old Imogen saying: “I’m having the best time of my life, I love being here getting to do all these things”.

The project is funded by Worcester Municipal Charities and the Hopmarket Charity.
