Police seek information after man was assaulted in Broad Street

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was assaulted and racially abused in Worcester city centre at the weekend.

The incident happened at about 4pmon Saturday August 2, as the victim, a 34-year-old man from Worcester, was walking along Broad Street.

He was approached by another man who knocked into him and verbally abused him, using an ethnic slur.

The offender was described as white, in his mid-20s, about five feet ten tall, wearing black headphones, a dark waist-length jacket over a black t-shirt. and blue jeans.

There were numerous members of the public present and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

To give information, call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 499s of Saturday, August 2.

Knocking into someone on broad street is now assault?!
I wonder how many actual assaults have happened on broad street where police haven't appealed for witnesses.

I know there is the ethnic slur element which shouldn't happen and can't be particularly nice for the victim, but is a little bit of perspective not being lost here?
