A MAN has been banned from driving for 25 months after admitting getting behind the wheel while almost three times the drink-drive limit.

Adrian Barnett of Winsmore, in Powick, near Worcester, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on Friday, August 1 where he pleaded guilty to driving on the A38 in Stratford Bridge near Upton on Sunday, July 13 with 101 mcg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath – nearly three times the legal limit of 35 mcg.

The 47-year-old self-employed gardener also admitted driving his Ford KA without a valid MOT or third party insurance at the same time.

Prosecutor Lesley Ashton said police had spotted Barnett’ s car driving erratically at 12.50am.

David Ollivere, defending, said Barnett had been drinking in Upton with a friend and had planned to get a taxi home, but when they called for one it did not arrive for more than an hour.

He was fined £92 for driving without an MOT and £275 for driving without insurance, banned from driving for 25 months and handed a 12-month community order.
