A FREE 1940s fashion show 'Puttin' on the Blitz' is taking place this Saturday (August 9) at Worcester City Museum and Art Gallery on Foregate Street.

Clare Bridge and Jo Bourke, co-curators of the current vintage fashion exhibition, Fancy Pants: A Celebration of Style 1920-45 in the museum, are putting on a display of wartime fashions in the old library space with shows at 1pm and 3pm.

"We've got a great mix of genuine 1940s fashions and reproduction items that really look the part," said Ms Bridge, of online vintage business Second Hand Rose Worcester.

"We'll be showcasing how ladies dressed during the war and how they made the most of their fashions on the ration, including smart day wear, work wear such as land girls and factory workers, as well as a few glamorous gowns for a night out in the blackout."

The fashion show and exhibition of fashions from the 1920s to the 1940s are both free to attend.
