IT may be a few more weeks before Strictly Come Dancing returns to our television screens but people can put their best moves into practise for a glitzy fundraising event.

Budding dancers can put on their most glamorous frocks and suits for Frankie's First Footsteps - a dinner and dance event that will raise funds for Frankie's Legacy.

The event, organised by Relax and Grow, will take place at the Bank House Hotel, Bransford, on Saturday, November 29 to mark the first birthday of stillborn baby Francesco "Frankie" Enrico Ventura.

There will be a twist on the usual black tie dress code with men being asked to instead wear a blue tie in honour of baby Frankie.

Professional dancers Mark and Olga Elsbury, who are five times British National Champions and UK Closed Champions, will be special guests.

There will be other fundraising opportunities throughout the evening with a guaranteed prize raffle draw, a three course meal, a five dance cabaret session and live music.

To give people a chance to brush up on their dancing skills, Relax and Grow will be holding ten weekly classes starting on Tuesday, September 9 and Wednesday, September 10 until Tuesday, November 18 and Wednesday, November 19 in ballroom and Latin.

The course will cover six dances including waltz, cha cha and jive and people can attend the classes who will not be attending the dinner and dance.

Ian and Natalie Ballard, from Relax and Grow, said they were very proud to be organising Frankie's First Footsteps in aid of the charity which hopes to raise money to fund "home comforts" being placed in the delivery suites at the hospital.

The charity holds a special place close to Mr Ballard’s heart as in 2001 he had his own experience of stillbirth.

"He had his own experience of the facilities provided by hospital for parents in similar situations to Lisa and Russell [Frankie's parents].

"When Relax and Grow was asked to help Frankie’s Legacy with fundraising, we did not hesitate to say yes to this great cause.”

The couple are seeking donations for the evening as well as support from businesses to sponsor individual tables at the event.

Frankie's First Footsteps will take place from 6.30pm to 11pm with tickets costing £35 for standard view and £50 for premium view.
