OWNERS of a new restaurant in Worcester are hoping their customers will support them to raise money for their home country.

Naz Miah has lived in Worcester since 1987 but is originally from Bangladesh and the region of Sunamganj in the Sylhet Division of the country.

He has recently opened Delhi Spice in the Tything and is hoping he can now raise money to help people still living in the country.

"It's a remote area and most of the people are very poor. Some of them have to walk half a mile to get water," said Mr Miah, partner at Delhi Spice.

"We have been donating £1 from every meal and takeaway sold this week towards the Freshwater Appeal, which raises money for water pumps.

"One costs £200 to install and everything else. It is specifically for the area we come from. We will return there in December and deliver the pumps and see them installed.

"We are hoping to raise £600 to get three if possible."
