A WORCESTER opticians raised more than £200 for Forces Support on Armed Forces Day, which took place on Saturday, June 28.

The team at Specsavers, 64 Broad Street, Worcester welcomed people to their walk-in contact lens fitting clinic and donated £1 for every person who visited. Customers also donated loose change taking the total to £235.

The store also gave away goodie bags brimming with Specsavers vouchers and treats. Worcester charity, Forces Support were outside the store and spoke to passers-by about the importance of supporting the armed forces and how they help the local area, as well as family and friends of those who served.

Alan Richards, store director, says: ‘We’re thrilled to have raised £235 for Forces Support, an incredible charity right on our doorstep, which serves the Worcester area and carries out some truly fantastic work.

‘We’re sure we will work with the charity again and will continue to participate in future fundraising activities for our chosen charities.’

Forces Support is a charity set up in honour of all the brave service personnel who have lost their lives in current and recent conflicts. The charity provides general maintenance around the home and garden for families of a lost member by employing professional builders and maintenance personnel and apprentices.
