A WORCESTER-based cleaning company is looking to find a community project to muck in with.

Spontex, based on the Shire Business Park in Warndon Villages, is looking for a local project or group that it can help give a deep clean and some cleaning products.

The company develops cleaning products which are sold throughout the UK, and people can nominate the group or project they want to see leant a hand.

Heather Mitchell, PR and marketing executive with Spontex, said: "We've been in Worcester a while and we want to give something back to the local community.

"People might not realise that Spontex have been based in Worcester since 1999. We’ve decided to change that by doing something to invest in our local community and we can’t wait to read about the fantastic community spaces in Worcestershire and choose one to support with the application of some clever cleaning.”

Email your nominations to mail@spontex.co.uk by September 19.

The Crowngate bus station is in dire need of a clean. The roofs of the outside shelters are green with the accumulated filth of years of neglect. Both the outside and inside walkways need a good pressure wash and there are cigarette butts along the central island which haven't been cleared in months. Trees are overgrown and seats and litter bins look disgusting. The overall air of neglect is a disgrace and reflects badly on whoever is ultimately responsible, whether it is Crowngate management, First Group or the Council. No buck passing please. Get your fingers out and get these ladies involved but your conscience should mean that you should pay these ladies or donate a decent sum to charity. Take it out of the bus fare increases. They're frequent enough! I'll help you if you wish.

Thinking about it a bit more and having just walked around a few streets a litter picking blitz seems well overdue lest we become known as "The Filthful city".
