FUNDRAISERS at Worcester Wickes completed a gruelling 150 mile cycling challenge over the bank holiday weekend to raise hundreds for blood cancer charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The team cycled the distance from Worcester to Torquay in Devon, as part of the Around the World challenge taking place at Wickes stores up and down the country raising more than £370.

Dedicated colleagues took shifts to complete the distance on a static bike machine, kindly supplied by Fit For Free in St Martin's Quarter.

Sarah Davies, kitchen and bathroom adviser at the Wickes store was thrilled with the success of the event.

She said: "It was a fantastic day and a brilliant atmosphere in-store. Everyone got involved, from colleagues to customers and their families, which really helped us to tick off those miles.

"It was a tough challenge with a few sore legs at the end but that was nothing compared to what blood cancer patients and their families have to go through on a daily basis."

Cathy Gilman, chief executive of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, added: "Our partnership with Wickes continues to be a brilliant success and we are so grateful for all the fundraising that is done for us.

"All the money raised from the Around the World cycle challenge will help us in our mission to beat blood cancer, stopping people from dying and making patients’ lives better."
