A WORCESTER musician turned author has penned a second book charting the lifespan of an influential punk rock band.

Roland Link, of Northwick, has released his second book about Belfast rockers Stiff Little Fingers and will be signing copies at a Worcester Music Festival event at the Marrs bar, in Worcester.

What You See If What Get is a follow-up to this first book Kicking Up A Racket, which was released in 2009 after six-years worth of research and writing, that charted the band's life from their first jam session in 1977 to their split in 1983.

The new book uses the same timeline but offers a new perspective for fans of the band.

Mr Link said: "The book came out of the first one as the first one was a literary of the band and their career, and through that I got in touch with a lot of people who have memorabilia or photos and a lot of people I know have stuff like t-shirts and badges.

"I never set out to do another book but it just happened."

What You See Is What You Get, which had its official release with the band in Belfast last week, tells the story of the Stiff Little Fingers through unseen photographs of the members on the road, on stage, in candid moments and in promotional out-takes, as well as contemporary memorabilia, including tickets, tour posters, passes and badges, which are all accompanied by comments from the band and their photographers.

At the Worcester venue on Saturday (August 30), which is hosting musical talent for the Worcester Music Festival, the 41-year-old author will be setting up a stall with both of his books on sale and will be on hand to answer any questions and sign any copies.

Mr Link said he chose the venue as it was the place where his first book was launched but also because of the band playing on the evening, which will be ska band The Cracked Actors.

"The Cracked Actors are that sort of music - it ties in with the book," he said.

"People who are going to turn up to see that band, they will probably be interested in the book and the Stiff Little Fingers."
