WITH the closure of Perdiswell's Park and Ride service, the resident cat is now looking for a new home.

Perdy, who is believed to be around ten years old, has been living in the offices at the Perdiswell site for around six years after staff took it upon themselves to look after her.

But Worcestershire County Council has stressed she will definitely be re-homed.

Councillor John Smith OBE, Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Highways, said: "Perdy the cat has been looked after by the team at the Perdiswell site for some time and, obviously, we've looked to ensure she will be safe and cared for when the Park and Ride closes.

"We have made sure Perdy will have a new home if no-one does come forward but if anyone can offer her a safe and caring environment then please get in touch."

She first started visiting on and off, mostly throughout winter, before taking up permanent residence there, and staff let her have free reign of the offices, and put out blankets and bedding for her.

Perdy, who was named by staff at the site, has become a welcomed fixture at the service station over the years, and several customers of the service have contacted your Worcester News expressing their fears for Perdy's future when the office closes on Saturday, August 30.

One reader, Mike Hill, of Bromsgrove, wants to see the friendly cat go to a good home.

The 73 year-old said: "Me and my wife often use the service when we're in Worcester, and Perdy is always a welcome sight.

"She looks well and is very friendly. The staff there have been good to her, but we hope she gets taken on and looked after.

"We don't know what will happen to her when it closes.

"Everyone who rides the bus likes her and looks out for her now. She just lies on the path in the sun and laps up the attention."
