SLIMMERS from Evesham raised more than £900 for cancer research with their own take on the Race for Life.

Members of two branches of Slimming World from the town walked or ran a 3.5 km round circuit along the River Avon starting and ending at Hampton Ferry on Sunday, August 16.

Joint organiser Ali Saunders said: “Every year at Slimming World we do a run like the Race for Life to raise money for charity,” she said.

“This year, we’ve partnered with Cancer Research UK, which is why we’ve called it Slimming World does Race for Life.

“Sadly, cancer is something that affects so many people so it was good to be able to take part and raise awareness of the disease.

“In total the day raised more than £900.00 for Cancer Research UK so we were absolutely delighted”.
