A WOMAN was robbed in broad daylight as she walked along a towpath in the city.

The 49-year-old woman was walking along the canal towpath near to the Cavalier Tavern on Merrimans Hill between 2pm and 2.30pm on Tuesday afternoon when two men ran towards her.

According to the victim, they pushed her to the ground before taking her handbag and running off in the direction of the play area on Lansdowne Road.

She suffered minor injuries and was seen by paramedics but no treatment was required.

Both men are described as being white, aged around 18 to 23 years old, of slim build and between 5ft 7 and 5ft 8.

One of the men is described as having short brown hair, a clean-shaven face and wearing a black tight-fitting t-shirt.

The other man is said to have an oval-shaped face with light brown hair, a clean-shaven face and wearing a white vest top.
