THE red carpet for royalty will be rolled out next week at a Droitwich care home.

Birgitte, The Duchess of Gloucester, will be welcomed by residents at the Elizabeth Finn Rashwood care home on Thursday , September 11.

The royal VIP will be given a tour of the house and unveil a plaque commemorating the occasion.

Rashwood’s General Manager Helen Grice commented; “Rashwood is renowned for providing the highest quality of care and I know that both staff and residents alike are looking forward to showing Her Royal Highness around this historic home. We are absolutely delighted to receive this royal visit and we look forward to having The Duchess of Gloucester meet the residents and share a few stories over afternoon tea.”

Resident Joy Sole aged 95 commented; “I have been living in Rashwood for just over a year and I am really looking forward to being able to meet Her Royal Highness and to show her around Rashwood. It’s not every day that you get to spend the afternoon with royalty so we are all really excited that she is coming to spend the afternoon with us.”

The Duchess of Gloucester will be received by local dignitaries and be taken on a tour of Rashwood whilst being given an opportunity to meet with residents and their families. Set in 6 acres of landscaped grounds the award winning home caters for 54 residents who are supported by a team of first rate and highly trained staff.

Built in 1906, the house formerly known as Rashwood Lodge was donated to the charity ‘Distressed Gentlefolks Aid Association’ after the Second World War. Now known as Elizabeth Finn Care in memory of its Victorian founder, the Charity owns nine care homes across the United Kingdom, which run the on behalf of the Charity by Elizabeth Finn Homes Limited.
