A FUNDRAISING fun day arranged by the parents of a baby girl who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) aged just eight weeks old raised more than £5,000 for a charity supporting families who have lost children.

Gareth and Kris Price organised the event at the Talbot Inn in Kempsey on Saturday, August 28, in memory of their daughter Gracie, who died of SIDS, also known as Cot Death, in March.

More than 450 visited the event, which included a bouncy castle, face painting, stands, tombola, a disco, raffle and an auction as well as an ice bucket challenge and raised a massive £5,016.76 for the Lullaby Trust, a charity offering support to families affected by SIDS.

Officers from West Mercia Police were also on hand to meet visitors.

Mr Price described the total they had raised as “an amount we could never have dreamed of”.

“The day was mine and my wife’s way of saying thank you to our local community and friends for all of their support but also trying to raise as much funding as we can,” he said.

“I could not even start to list the names of people and companies we have to thank as there are so, so many.”

He added he and his wife were determined to continue to raise as much as they could for the Lullaby Trust in the hope that other families would not have to experience the ordeal they faced when their daughter died of SIDS, which kills about 300 children every year.
