HEREFORD and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service honoured their staff at its annual medals and awards ceremony.

Held at Worcester's Guildhall, this was the first of two annual ceremonies, with celebrate long and outstanding service, and boasted an esteemed guest list including Chairman of the Fire and Rescue Authority Councillor Derek Prodger MBE, and Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire,Mr David Blakey CBE

The Outstanding Service Medal was awarded to Watch Commander Timothy Harris, of Droitwich Fire Station, Crew Commander David Dodd of Upton-upon-Severn Fire Station and Watch Commander Martin Gray ,Malvern Fire Station.

The Chief Fire Officer’s Letter of Commendation was presented to Crew Commander Simon Jelfs, of Droitwich Fire Station.

Chief Fire Officer Mark Yates, who assisted in presenting the awards, said:“The event is one of the highlights of the Service’s calendar. Without the exceptional talents and commitment of our staff, there wouldn’t be the high quality Fire and Rescue Service that we enjoy in Herefordshire and Worcestershire.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the invaluable, and often unrecognised, support our staff receive from their families and loved ones”
