AWARDS were handed out as part of the final graduation ceremony of Worcester College of Technology.

After the college merged with North East Worcestershire College earlier this year, it was renamed Heart of Worcestershire College.

The last cohort of 140 College of Technology students paraded through the city centre alongside dignitaries on Friday (September 12).

During the ceremony at the cathedral, four law students were honoured with prizes.

Courtney Bowkett won the Worcester Law School prize, which was awarded by Thursfields Solicitors, while Best LLB student - awarded by Harrison Clark Rickerbys - was Steven Percival.

The Best CPE student prize, handed out by the Worcestershire Law Society, was Terri Jeynes, with Skye Connors given a prize by Hallmark Hulme Solicitors for contribution to the Law School.

Councillor Alan Amos, the Mayor of Worcester, attended the graduation ceremony.

He said: "It was wonderful to be a part of our college's graduation ceremony and congratulate so many talented and enthusiastic young people.

"The guest speaker was spot on when he encouraged the students to take risks.

"As he rightly said, people who don't take risks don't achieve anything.

"It was a superbly well organised event, sad to see current students leave, but exciting to see them about to take up new challenges and opportunities out there in the big wide world."
