A MAN who suffered serious back injuries after falling into a pond in Hallow has undergone surgery.

Tim Goldsmith, of Heath Farm, Moseley Road, Hallow, had to be rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham yesterday (Tuesday) where he underwent the procedure overnight.

The 34-year-old sustained his injuries when he fell from a ladder whilst trying to rescue a cat from a tree on his families farm, near Worcester, at around 8am.

As reported by your Worcester News a large emergency response attended the incident, including four ambulances, fire and rescue boats, a fire engine and police cars.

Mr Goldsmith was rescued after around 30 minutes in the pond, which is about a quarter of an acre in size, on a floating spinal board.

Speaking briefly today his mother, Dorothy Goldsmith, confirmed her son had undergone surgery overnight but was unable to provide a further update.
