SUPPORTERS of a care home in Worcester are taking part in a sponsored walk this afternoon (Saturday, September 20).
The 10-mile walk is in aid of Phoenix House, which cares for people with disabilities.
Gordon Portman's daughter Gillian has been based at the Bromyard Road care home for 28 years.
Mr Portman, who is a former treasurer on Phoenix House's committee, said the annual walk provides a much-needed cash boost.
He said: "This is the best place for Gillian and I think they're hoping to get about £2,000 today.
"The money goes towards holidays [for the care home's residents] and to Christmas."
