A VALE woman who suffers from a rare form of cancer sufferer has been overwhelmed by the response to her fundraising efforts.

Mary Davidson, who lives in Bishampton, was diagnosed with terminal Myeloma in October 2012, and has been on a mission to raise £1,000 each year to help sufferers in the future face a different outcome to her own.

To help fundraise towards more research into Myeloma the former nurse organised a sell out fashion show taking place at Pershore next week.

Now she is hoping people will buy raffle tickets for some prizes including a four ball round at Bishampton Golf Club, a voucher for Thai Legend Restaurant in Pershore and a month’s membership of Rivers Leisure Centre, to help her reach the target of £1,000.

Mrs Davidson said: "I am absolutely over the moon that we’ve already sold the tickets for the Fashion Show but the prize sponsors have been so generous we thought we would cast the net wider to enable as many people as possible to have a chance to win one.

"I am immensely grateful to the prize sponsors for their generosity, all the money raised will be used to fund research into this fairly rare form of cancer which affects around 4,700 people in the UK every year."

Friends of St. James’ Church will also be supporting Mrs Davidson's efforts by holding an auction for tickets to the Worcester Warriors vs Nottingham rugby game and afternoon tea for two at Wood Norton Hall at their forthcoming Harvest Supper at the Villages Hall, Bishampton on Saturday, October 18.

Raffle tickets are on sale on the night or from Mary by calling 01386 462445 or emailing clnccd@aol.com.
