AN exhibition of artwork inspired by the Pershore Avon Meadows Community Wetland will be on display to the public at Pershore Library from Saturday, October 4 for three weeks.

The event is being put on by Pershore Arts, in conjunction with the Wetlands for All project.

It's the result of months of work by the two groups as during the spring and summer, the Friends of Avon Meadows assisted members of Pershore Arts in finding the best place to paint or photograph the landscape and life of this special nature reserve.

Frans Swarte, chairman of Pershore Arts, said: "Most artists involved in this interesting project have been aware of the existence of Avon Meadows but were still taken aback by its natural beauty, closeness to the town and the ease of access.

"What is also pleasing is that some of our local schools are contributing to the exhibition and it is wonderful to see their enthusiasm for, and their appreciation of, this great location."

Liz Etheridge, wetlands for all project officer at Wychavon District Council, added: "I often bump into people taking photographs around the nature reserve because there’s always something different to see, whether it’s darkening storm clouds chasing over Bredon Hill or a jewel-like dragonfly hovering over a sunlit pool.

"Thanks to the support from the Heritage Lottery Fund through the Wetlands for All Project, we’ve been able to stage this exhibition that will showcase the skill and vision of local artists and the natural beauty of Avon Meadows."

The exhibition is part of a special autumn season, which ends with a talk from David Birtwhistle, Patron of Pershore Arts, on November 27.
