A MAN who had left a blue Muddy Fox mountain bike secured to cycle racks at Foregate Street railway station returned to find they had been stolen.

Police have now released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft on Tuesday, August 26.

PC Ben Smith, investigating officer, explained that a 34-year-old man from Worcester had secured his blue Muddy Fox mountain bike in the dedicated cycle racks at the rail station.

However, when he returned to collect it later that day, he discovered it missing.

“Enquiries have been ongoing since the theft took place to establish who took the bike, which was stolen at around 1.25pm.

“I am today able to release photographs of a man I would like to identify and speak to as I believe he will have key information about this incident.

"The man is described as white, in his twenties, and was wearing a black jacket with a yellow stripe down the sleeves, a grey hooded top, grey-coloured trousers and trainers.”

Unfortunately, bicycles remain a desirable target for many thieves at train stations.

However, British Transport Police is cracking down and has a dedicated team of officers specifically focused on tackling the issue.

Officers are trying a number of things to catch thieves in the act as well as working closely with cycle and second-hand shops in the area and monitoring online auction and advertising sites to make it more difficult for thieves to sell on stolen property.

Anyone who can identify the person in the pictures or knows their current whereabouts should call 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference GSUB/B8 of 23/09/14.
