A DINOSAUR sculpture that was targeted by vandals only days after it turned up in a Worcester park is being looked after by the locals.

The Triceratops turned up in Fort Royal Park off London Road at the start of September, and although Worcester City Council park keeper Les Pearson still has no idea where it came from he was more than happy to let it stay in the park.

However, only days after its arrival, vandals broke a leg off the MDF sculpture, leaving its future in the park uncertain.

But Mr Pearson said the locals are doing their best to keep the dinosaur in the park.

"A couple who live next to the park have taken him in to try to repair him," he said.

"The dinosaur has been moved to a corner of the park now and has had a fence put around him to try to protect him a bit more while he is repaired.

"It's a shame because he really caused quite a stir in the park, and was a good talking point. He's still visible though. We were thinking of putting up signs saying 'do not feed' around his pen."

Mr Pearson added that the sculpture has not yet been given a name.
