DAVID Cameron took time out from the Conservative Party conference to pop into a restaurant owned by a Malvern couple last week.

The Prime Minister and his wife Samantha visited Paprika in Longbridge - which is run by former ward member for Malvern Link on Malvern Hills District Council Sabina Alam and her husband Kashem - last week.

The couple have run Paprika in Worcester Road, Malvern, for more than 14 years and, knowing the Camerons would be in the city for the annual conference last week, decided to invite them to the Longbridge restaurant when it opened seven months ago.

But they were surprised when they received a phone call to say they were actually on their way on Tuesday, September 30.

Mrs Alam said the couple had shared a selection of starters while Mr Cameron had opted for a Lamb Chili Balti for his main course while his wife enjoyed the Fish Special and both were very complimentary about the food.

She said they had offered the Prime Minister and his wife a private room but they said they wanted to be in the main dining room and were happy to chat with other diners.

Mr and Mrs Alam are also celebrating recently being given a five-star hygiene rating by Malvern Hills District Council.

Mrs Alam said: "We have worked really hard to make sure we serve our customers and community to the absolute best service and dining experience offering traditional and our very own authentic home-style dishes.

"We would like to thank them all for their continued support and custom over the years."
