TWO Pershore friends left their fears at home at they jumped behind the wheel and took on a tough five day drive through Europe for charity.

Kim Marshall and Hayley Reynolds, both from Pershore, decided to take part in the Screwball Rally, which saw them head 1,800 miles through Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany and France - despite neither being a confident driver.

But they conquered their fears as they completed the journey at the end of last month and said it was an "amazing" challenge.

The pair had been hoping to raise £2,000 for the MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society, a charity, which was important to them Mrs Reynold's husband and Ms Marshall's best friend both suffer from the disease.

And the two 39-year-olds achieved their target, raising more than £2,000 after completing the drive.

Ms Marshall, of Abbey Road, Pershore, said: "The rally was amazing, we had a great time and hope to do it all again next year.

"Although we definitely felt that we worked hard for the sponsorship money as there was a lot of driving and little sleep, dealing with german autobahns, mountain fog and other challenges, it was a great experience and we both coped really well and worked together as a team.

"I seriously recommend it to anyone who wants to step out of reality for a few days and do something totally different.

"There are people who have taken part in the rally for five or six years and I can definitely see why."
