THIS wreath and photograph has been placed alongside other tributes to Sylvia Russell in Worcester city centre.

It is the first picture of Miss Russell to have surfaced since her death.

The image is an "early photo" of 69-year-old Miss Russell, who was killed when she was crushed by a rubbish lorry in The Shambles.

One of the few people with pictures of Miss Russell is her close friend Len Presley, aged 67.

He said he was unsure who would have had the photograph of Miss Russell to use in the tribute, but suggested the photo was from about the year 2000.

He said: "The only other people I can think of who would've had a photo is her family.

"Probably the one that I can think of would be Roger, her stepbrother.

"That's the first time I've seen that photo and it's an early one but it's a very nice one of her."

Mr Presley and Miss Russell, of Dent Close, got to know each other through the letters pages of your Worcester News.

Ten days after her death, he is still coming to terms with the loss and said he continues to "get emotional".

Miss Russell was crushed by a truck owned by Smith’s Waste Management of Gloucester in the Shambles.

Since her death, floral tributes have continued to grow outside Argos near the spot where the accident happened.

Miss Russell’s name will be familiar to readers of the Worcester News as she regularly wrote letters to this newspaper.

The lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed.

If any of Miss Russell’s family or friends saw her on the morning of the incident call police on 101, quoting incident number 133 of September 29.
