THE search is on for Britain's national bird – and people in Worcestershire can have their say.
Broadcaster David Lindo, also known as The Urban Birder, has launched the search for the nation’s best bird.
The last time the country chose its national bird was back in the 1960s when the robin won the vote.
Mr Lindo wants an updated bird search to take place and the winner will be announced in May.
The vote will take place in two stages.
First, people vote for their six favourite birds from an initial list of 60 and six winning birds go through to the finals.
The closing date for voting is November 30.
In January, the six finalists are announced, and the nation votes for their favourite.
Everyone who votes will get a free digital copy of Bird Watching magazine and be entered into a draw to win a week birding in Shetland courtesy of Shetland Wildlife, a pair of Leica Trinovid binoculars, subscriptions to Bird Watching Magazine and The Urban Birder t-shirts.
