FAMILIES on the lookout for something a bit out of the ordinary to do at the weekend got the chance to make and enjoy their own delicious apple juice at a Worcester park.

The latest of the autumn apple pressing events run by Transition Worcester - an organisation working to promote sustainable living across the city and further afield - was held at Cripplegate Park on Saturday, October 11.

The organisation's chairman Tony Kennell said he was pleased with how much interest people had shown in the event some may have been kept away by the rain.

"It went well except that we didn't do a vast amount of apples because they are a bit thin on the ground and the weather wasn't very good," he said.

"But we did get to talk to a lot of people about the work we do."

The next apple pressing days will be held at Green Farm in Crowle Green, near Worcester, on Saturday, October 18, Croome Court near Pershore the following day, The Commandery in Sidbury on Saturday, October 25 and The Fold in Bransford the next day.

The final three events of this year will be held at the Pump House Environment Centre in Waterworks Road on Saturday, November 1, the car park of The Coppertops in Oldbury Road on Saturday, November 8 and the Worcester Woods Countryside Centre on Saturday, November 15.

Each event runs from 11am until 3pm.
