CHILDREN at a primary school designed and wore their own Willy Wonka-inspired hats as part of a fundraiser.

As part of its book week, Grimley and Holt CofE Primary School celebrated Willy Wonka Day and 50 years since Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was written.

All money raised went to Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children’s Charity, which supports families caring for seriously ill children.

Year 5 and 6 teacher Rachael Watkins, who helped organise the event, said: "It is a wonderfully fun and creative way to celebrate 50 years of an amazing book and raise money for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

"The children's Willy Wonka Hats looked amazing - during assembly our hall was a sea of Willy Wonka hats."
