YOUNGSTERS at Welland Pre-School have been learning about autumn in the past few weeks.
Among the activities they have been taking part in are going out into the landscape to collect seasonal tokens such as conkers, leaves, acorns and beech nuts, and learning about crops grown around the village and how they are harvested, with the aid of a visit from a local farmer's tractor.
They also paid a visit to Lovells Vineyard in the village, where they were shown round, saw some grapes being picked and used a special grape press to make their own grape juice.
And the playgroup held its harvest service at St James’ Church, Welland, when the children donated baskets packed with different foods and remembered how important it is to care for others less fortunate.
