A WILDLIFE photographer has managed to picture the all-white squirrel as it perched in a tree high above Pitchcroft.

Dave Grubb, from Claines, was on his way to the peregrine cameras at St Andrew's Spire, Deansway, on Saturday afternoon when he spotted the ultra rare all-white squirrel.

Mr Grubb - who has also managed to picture Keith the seal while he was resident in the river Severn at Worcester - quickly got out his camera and took this stunning picture of the squirrel.

The all-white squirrel, which was first spotted earlier this month, thought to be one of only 50 in the country.

However, the squirrel is not an albino as it would have pink eyes but is known as leucistic, where the colour pigment mutates.

Mr Grubb said: "I've been working on the spire peregrine cameras over the past few days and have passed the Croft road car park on my travels keeping an eye out for the squirrel.

"I spotted him or her on Saturday afternoon on my way home only a few seconds after my arrival sat high up in one of the trees.

"But it only stayed a few seconds before disappearing so I was lucky.

"Talking to a couple passing by, they'd spotted the squirrel dashing across the road twice so let's hope he doesn't end up as road kill."
