RUMOURS have begun to swirl about the potential first restaurant to snap up a unit at the shopping centre set for a multi-million pound revamp.
Cathedral Plaza looks set to sign up its first big name restaurant ahead of next year's major revamp which will see the centre boasting a public square, space for a range of large new shops, seven restaurants and an underground gym.
A spokesman for Salmon Harvester, which owns Cathedral Plaza, confirmed it was in talks with a potential"exciting leisure offer" but said he could not comment further at this stage.
It is thought a well known gourmet handmade burger restaurant, mainly based in London, could be opening in the city - however, the spokesman said he could not confirm this.
At the moment, the entrances to Cathedral Plaza have been boarded up for health and safety reasons though shops, including the Books For Free Centre, remain open in the Lychgate.
About 100 new jobs are expected to be created when the 220,000 sq ft shopping centre reopens after work is set to end in the summer of 2016.
