A MUM from Evesham is hoping for success in a national beauty competition while raising some money for a very worthy cause.

Nix Brown was named Miss Worcestershire in the Miss Great Britain competition earlier this year and is due to compete for the national title in Leicester next month.

The 26-year-old, who grew up in Evesham and is a former pupil of Prince Henry's High School, moved back to her home town with her partner Matt Stanway shortly after her son Austin was born last year.

She said she was “really happy” to have been picked to represent the county in November’s two-day finals starting on Thursday, November 13.

"It has brought lots of exciting opportunities my way already and the support I have had has been amazing,” she said.

In the build up to next month’s final Miss Brown is holding a luxury raffle in aid of Leicester-based Rainbow Children’s Hospice, which will be drawn at Evesham gym One on One Fitness in Rynal Street - which is sponsoring her bid to win the Miss Great Britain title - on Saturday, November 8.

The raffle has so far raised just under £200, with 24 valuable prizes up for grabs including a portrait photo shoot worth £250, tickets to Worcester Racecourse and various vouchers, and Miss Brown said she hoped to raise much more.

She said she was particularly grateful to One on One Fitness as well as Absolute Silver Jewellery in Evesham Country Park, which has provided her with handcrafted jewellery to wear at next month’s competition.

"I would also like to thank the numerous local business owners who have donated prizes to my Luxury Charity Raffle in aid of Rainbows Children's Hospice," she said.

"We really do have some really amazing people in and around this area.

"I for one am proud to be from here."

A Miss Worcestershire title is also awarded by the Miss England contest, which is due to be decided at the Guildhall on Sunday, November 2, but this is separate from the Miss Great Britain competition Miss Brown is involved with.
