STUDENTS hoping to work in the criminal justice sector are studying on a brand new course at the University of Worcester.
The university’s new Applied Criminology degree attracted a large number of applicants and 16 successful students are now taking their first steps towards a career in probation, the police, youth offending services and a number of other professions in the criminal justice sector.
The course was written in conjunction with the former West Mercia Probation Trust.
The partnership continues with the newly formed Warwickshire and West Mercia CRC (Community Rehabilitation Company), who are actively involved with the programme.
Course leader Kate Bramford, who was head of learning and organisational development with the Trust, said: “This is a really exciting new development for the University of Worcester.
"We have students joining us straight from Sixth Form or following a gap year as well as mature students attending higher education for the first time.
"What they all have in common is that they want to make a difference to people’s lives in the criminal justice sector.”
