CHEFS from a Worcester hostel laid on a feast fit for a king to raise funds for a campaign working to stamp out homelessness in the area.

The team from St Paul’s Hostel in Tallow Hill prepared the four-course meal at the Army Reserve Centre in Pheasant Street on Friday, October 24 in aid of the fundraising campaign set up by Lions Clubs across the West Midlands.

The chef team – all of whom have benefitted from homelessness support in the past – cooked up the feast for nearly 50 people.

Worcester Lions Club member Joy Haffner, who set up the campaign, said the event was “an outstanding success” with the amount raised still being totted up.

“It was hard to choose a favourite course,” she said. “They were all superb, but I would love the recipe for the Pork Rillettes.

Head chef Matt Williams said he was pleased by how well his volunteer team had risen to the challenge.

“I am proud to work with such an amazing group of people,” he said.

“My team support me every bit as much as I support them. This evening was for them and they surpassed all expectations.”
